Cert II in Dance, VET in the VCE (a Partnership Service)

Support for VET in the VCE Certificate II in DANCE

Ausdance Victoria provides support for the delivery of VCE VET Dance by partnering with schools or studios who wish to deliver the subject.

Partnering with Ausdance Victoria eliminates the long and costly process of establishing a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) structure for your school, or of adding the course to your scope of registration if your school is already an RTO delivering other VET subjects.

In addition, Ausdance Victoria also provides:

• A supportive community of existing teachers and experts

• Two annual professional development days for VET in the VCE teachers

• Student industry days, linking your students with leading dance companies and dance professionals

• Comprehensive resource kits

• Statement of attainment (Units 1-2) and Certificate of Attainment (Units 3-4) for each student

About the course

The VCE VET Dance program aims to provide students with the technical and performance skills, knowledge and attitudes to begin the process of establishing a career within the dance or entertainment industry. Upon completing the course students receive a study score and Certificate IIin Dance (21764VIC)

The course covers developing and refining basic dance techniques, developing a basic level of physical condition for dancing, preparing for dance performance, and applying first aid. VCE VET Dance can be delivered through a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, funk, hip hop, tap, social dance and cultural dance styles. Students without prior dance experience can undertake the course, as well as experienced dancers.

How much does it cost:

1) Annual Partnership fee $700 Includes Ausdance membership, phone and email support, attendance at two VET specific PD days per year and comprehensive resources kit.

2) Student fees $154 per student per year.

3) Student Industry Days are an additional $35 per student.

What do schools need to do?

• Engage a dance teacher who has two or more dance styles from the list above and has completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) – Ausdance Victoria can provide assistance with locating a teacher if required

• Provide a suitable studio space

• Sign a Partnership Agreement with Ausdance Victoria

• Maintain regular communication with Ausdance Victoria

Ausdance Victoria staff provide guidance in setting up VCE VET dance at your school, and can speak at information nights or similar upon request. If you only have a small number of students at your school consider the option of partnering with other nearby schools in a cluster to make it feasible.

If your school is outside Victoria it is still possible to be Partner.
