Regional Dance
Abstract
CORE STRENGTH: A Report of Dance Communities in Regional Victoria was commissioned by Ausdance Victoria with a grant from Arts Victoria to conduct face-to-face roundtable consultations with regionally-based dance communities in 15 towns in Victoria. The report provides an overview of these consultations through a discussion of common themes, issues and concerns as raised by participants at the roundtables, local councils and Ausdance Victoria.

CORE STRENGTH: A Report of Dance Communities in Regional Victoria was commissioned by Ausdance Victoria with a grant from Arts Victoria to conduct face-to-face roundtable consultations with regionally-based dance communities in 15 towns in Victoria. The report provides an overview of these consultations through a discussion of common themes, issues and concerns as raised by participants at the roundtables, local councils and Ausdance Victoria.
All consultations and the writing and publication of the report were conducted over a oneyear period from November 2009 to November 2010.
The report is made available for public use and has been designed to provide an insight into the composition of dance communities, how they interact, what they offer to local communities and the challenges they may face.
The report indicates a number of potential courses of action through which local dance communities, the wider dance sector, Local, State and Federal Governments, Ausdance Victoria and other arts and community organisations can enhance the core strength of dance communities and the important role they play in regional Victoria.
